Lisa has more than thirty years of experience in a wide array of real estate and finance matters, and now emphasizes primarily land development and natural resource preservation. She formed Hawkins Law PLC as a solo practice after nearly two decades as a partner with Flora Pettit PC, which she helped found after periods of practice with Wharton Aldhizer & Weaver and an international firm in Denver, Colorado where she lived following graduation with Order of the Coif honors from University of Virginia School of Law. Lisa has been repeatedly named among the “Legal Elite” by Virginia Business since 2010 (most recently in 2025), as one of the “Best Lawyers in America”™ by Best Lawyers® for twelve years running, and in 2024 as one of “America’s Most Honored Lawyers.” Lisa currently serves on the Boards of the Shenandoah Valley Conservancy (formerly Valley Conservation Council), Virginia Wilderness Committee, and Good Neighbors Ad Hoc Committee of the Shenandoah National Park Trust. She was a founding Board member of Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance, The Alliance of the Shenandoah Valley and the Friends of the North River.
